Performance Philosophy Biennial is an initiative on the brink of academia, performance art and (public) philosophy in Amsterdam. It is a four day event staging lectures, performances, interventions and discussions. The biennial brings together artists, researchers, theatre professionals, students, activists and anyone interested in rethinking artistic intervention in its contemporary context.

INTERVENTION! INTOXICATION? is the 4th Biennial of the Performance Philosophy network and it takes the shape of a research festival and conference. Academics and makers explore the ways in which intervention brings about ideas that were impossible to think before. We ask ourselves: What are the possibilities and forms of intervention today? Can the arts bring about social change?

Expect: 120 selected contributions, four invited speakers (Nikita Dhawan, Silvia Bottiroli, Thomas Bellinck and Thijs Lijster), a number of initiatives around the 50th anniversary of Aktie Tomaat and programmes organized in collaboration with our partners Goethe Institut en Perdu.

INTERVENTION! INTOXICATION? is organised by Stichting Performance Philosophy Amsterdam and commisioned by the international research network Performance Philosophy. We collaborate with the Department of Theatre Studies University of Amsterdam, and Flemish Cultural Centre De Brakke Grond.
